Iran doc awarded at Azeri filmfest

Iran's documentary 'True Love' has been awarded at the 2018 edition of the International Short Film Festival "START" in Azerbaijan.

Directed by Iman Behrouzi, 'True Love' was announced as the best documentary at the 9th edition of the START which was held in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, November 14-17.

'True Love' was one of the seven Iranian films competing in the 2018 edition of the Azeri event.

The five Iranian short films: ‘Birth’ directed by Siamak Eta, ‘The Slaughter’ by Rasoul Iranzad-Aqamirlou, ‘Hole’ (Hofreh) by Zahra Torkamanlou, ‘How Far Away is the Sea?’ (Az Inja ta darya cheghad raheh?) made by Afsaneh Pakrou and Saiedeh Pakrou, as well as ‘Loss’ (Foqdan) by Ramin Farzaneh and Parisa Sedai-Azar took part in the gala.

In addition to 'True Love’, Iranian documentary ‘I am Esmat’ by Leila Norouzi was also screened during the festival.

Some 100 short films made by filmmakers under 35 years of age from 30 countries participated in the event.

Iranian director and screenwriter Kambozia Partovi was on the five-member jury panel at the festival.
